MMA (Mixed Martial Arts)

Professionals, Amateurs, and Beginners…you WILL experience the results!  We have trained all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels and helped them achieve their personal goals.  Now it’s your turn!  We can do the same for you!

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a full-contact combat sport that allows the use of both striking and grappling techniques, both standing and on the ground, from a variety of other combat sports and martial arts. It combines different fighting styles. Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Wrestling are considered the three core disciplines in MMA.  Other popular styles include Muay Thai, Karate, Judo, Kung Fu, and Boxing.

For those who want to take it to a competition level, true to the sport’s Brazilian fighting roots of Vale Tudo (which translates as “anything goes”), during a match fighters are allowed to do whatever it takes to win.  Fighters attempt to either defeat their opponent via stoppage (submission or knock out) or by judge’s decision.  MMA matches are characterized by a variety of martial arts styles and often entail stand up fighting (punches, clinch work, knees, kicks, and elbows), throwing or takedowns, and ground fighting (ground control, submissions, and submission defense).  MMA fighters battle it out in a cage wearing minimal gear (only thin gloves) and are barefoot.

Sparring
Sparring is an important aspect of martial arts training because it forces the student to improvise, think under pressure, and keep their emotions under control.  Sparring practice is highly recommended if martial arts is to be practical for real self-defense, and most adults and kids quickly find that they enjoy it.

At One Hit MMA, you choose whether or not you want to spar or to have any physical contact.  It really depends on your personal goals for your martial arts training.  Moreover, in any sparring match, precautions are taken to protect the participants.
